Pittsfield, MA -- The wait is over! DISNEY'S HIGH SCHOOL MUSICAL makes its Berkshire-area premiere this July at Barrington Stage Company! BSC’S Youth Theatre has brought together a group of 20 local performers to star in a special 5 week run! Directed and Choreographed by Christine O’Grady, DISNEY'S HIGH SCHOOL MUSICAL runs July 18 – August 19 at First Congregational Church on East Street in Pittsfield.

Based on the wildly popular Disney Channel Original Movie, DISNEY'S HIGH SCHOOL MUSICAL follows Gabriella, a shy, brainy new student, and Troy, the captain of the basketball team, as they discover a love for singing and audition for their high school musical. Their attempt to break out of their cliques turns their world and their school upside down!
The 20 member cast will showcase local performers from eight area communities. DISNEY'S HIGH SCHOOL MUSICAL stars Christopher Herr (Lenox) as Troy Bolton and Jesse Rothschild (Mill River) as Gabriella Montez. The show also stars Tyler Stanton (West Stockbridge) and Jessica Kingsdale (Pittsfield) as the brother and sister theatrical duo, Ryan and Sharpay; Benjamin Krol (Pittsfield) as Troy's best friend, Chad; and Alexa Veeder (Earlton, NY) as Taylor, the leader of East High's Science Club who befriends Gabriella. Also featured in the cast will be Anna Shields (Pittsfield) as Kelsi, Mark J. Kenyon (Pittsfield) as Zeke, Bob Herr (Lenox) as Coach Bolton, and Stephanie Hedges (Lenox) as Ms. Darbus.
In addition to McHugh and Galli, the student body of East High features Kathryn Burgner (Dalton), Will Carey (Glen Ridge, NJ), Patience Fairbrother (West Stockbridge), Colin Mackey (Pittsfield), and Frances Slote (Lenox).
Working with the area youth is a group of professional directors and designers. The creative team for DISNEY'S HIGH SCHOOL MUSICAL includes Christine O’Grady (Director/Choreographer), Brian Usifer (Musical Director), Eric Broadwater (Scenic Designer), Guy Lee Bailey & Krissy Sneshkoff (Costume Designers), Garrett S. Herzig (Lighting Designer), Daniel A. Little (Sound Designer), Thomas J. Coppola (Production Stage Manager), Greg Vyska (Assistant Stage Manager), Jeff Roberts (Assistant Music Director), Sunhee Kil (Associate Sound Designer), and Jerome Spratling (Assistant Choreographer).
DISNEY'S HIGH SCHOOL MUSICAL features a book by David Simpatico, songs by Matthew Gerrard, Robbie Nevil, Ray Cham, Greg Cham, Andrew Seeley, Randy Petersen, Kevin Quinn, Andy Dodd, Adam Watts, Bryan Louiselle, David N. Lawrence, Faye Greenberg and Jamie Houston. Music adapted, arranged and produced by Bryan Louiselle. Based on a Disney Channel Original Movie written by Peter Barsocchini.
Performances of Barrington Stage Company’s Youth Theatre production of DISNEY’S HIGH SCHOOL MUSICAL will take place at First Church of Christ, 27 East Street, Pittsfield. Performance times are: Wednesdays at 7 pm, Thursdays at 2 pm & 7 pm, Fridays at 7 pm, Saturdays at 2pm & 7 pm, Sundays at 2 pm & 7 pm. General admission tickets are $15-adults, $10-students.
