Carson Succeeds Pendell at NARH Community Art Program

North Adams, MA - Sharon Case has been named the new curator of the Community Art Program at North Adams Regional Hospital, succeeding Debi Pendell in the position. Sharon is an artist who lives and works at the Eclipse Mill in North Adams. Her work hung in the very first exhibit that Pennell curated at the hospital.

“I have had the delight of working with Sharon on a number of various projects over the five years we have both lived here and she is a wonder to work with - efficient, responsive, caring, intelligent and creative, Pendell wrote.

Pendell decided to step down in order to concentrate on studio work and teaching her classes and workshops.

“I will miss curating these exhibits…the feedback…has been deservedly glowing - from patients, hospital staff, visitors, and the artists. This enormously positive response has served to continually renew my faith in the power of art to affect all people on so many levels, and the power it has to bring various parts of the community together in a shared endeavor,” Pendell wrote.

Despite challenging economic times, the senior management at NARH believes in the importance of the Community Art Program and wants it to continue. Toward that end, Carson will research and apply for grants and other sources of funding as well as curating and hanging new exhibits. 5th Annual Food of Love Celebration February 8 at the Williams Inn

Williamstown, MA - The fifth annual Food of Love -- a celebration of Shakespeare, love, and chocolate -- will take place on Sunday afternoon, Feb. 8, at 5:00 p.m. at the Williams Inn in Williamstown. 

This year's theme is "Love is merely a madness," a line from As You Like It.  The audience will enjoy an unlimited chocolate buffet, prepared by the Inn's chefs, while observing Shakespeare's most famous lovers -- Romeo and Juliet, Hamlet and Ophelia, Prospero and Titania, and many other besotted royals and rustics -- as they flirt, fight, and speak immortal lines of love.

In addition to Shakespeare, for the first time the show will include love scenes and poetry by other authors including Anton Chekov, Oscar Wilde, e.e. cummings, and David Ives.

The event is a fundraiser for Mt. Greylock Regional High School's participation in Shakespeare & Company's Fall Festival of Shakespeare.  Tickets are $15, available at the door.

Computer Classes Start February 5 at NAPL

North Adams, MA - Registrations are being accepted for a four-week session of computer classes with A1 and E11 at the North Adams Public Library.
