Williamstown, MA - The Meeting House initiative of the First Congregational Church of Williamstown, along with the Center for Community Engagement at Williams College, is sponsoring a meeting on April 1 about implementing a single-payer health care system in Massachusetts and the nation as a whole. The meeting will begin at 7 p.m. in the Church's Fellowship Hall. All are welcome.
Dr. Michael Kaplan, member of Physicians for a National Health Program (PNHP), will present information about the single-payer system -- what it is and why we need it -- followed by perspectives from local physician Bob Hertzig and Paul Gitterman, director of outpatient services at the Brien Center.
The meeting will end with time to organize around concrete tasks that will move the single-payer agenda forward in our state. We will also send a report on this meeting to the Obama health care team in an ongoing effort to influence health care policy at the federal level.
The First Congregational Church is located at 906 Main Street (Rt. 2) in Williamstown, Massachusetts.
