SPRINGFIELD, Mass. -- A U.S. Bankruptcy Court judge ordered Northern Berkshire Health Care Inc. to make public by 10 a.m. on Friday a list of its 20 largest unsecured creditors, and set a hearing for Monday at 3 p.m. in Springfield after the hospital company filed for Chapter 7 liquidation.
Judge Henry J. Boroff, the judge in the case, also invited Massachusetts Atty. Gen. Martha Coakley's office to be part of the proceedings. Boroff also handled the hospital's 2012 Chapter 11 reorganization case, which is now superceded by the new Chapter 7 petition (Case No. 14-30327)
The orders were among papers filed and made public electronically via the bankruptcy court's PACER.ORG online document system. The documents include a unanimous resolution of the hospital's board of trustees, dated Wednesday, seeking to liquidate under the protection of the court, and designated the Boston law firm of Murtha Cullina LLP as its bankruptcy lawyers. The trustees' resolution named its chairman, Julia Bolton, and fellow trustee Bruce Grinnell, to handle the bankruptcy filing.
