Berkshire Food Project's Empty Bowl Dinner Slated for April 11

Williamstown, MA - The Berkshire Food Project is busy planning its 8th biennial Empty Bowl Dinner slated for Friday, April 11, 2008. This event is more than a fundraiser - the concept reinforces our message of helping those who may have to choose how to spend their limited income.  As patrons leave our dinner, they are reminded that there are those who are often looking at an "Empty Bowl" at dinner time.

Area potters have donated their hand crafted bowls and local chefs will donate their signature soups. Folks come in for a simple meal of soup and bread, then take their bowl home as a constant reminder  that not everyone's bowl is always full.

The event takes place at the First Congregational Church, 906 Main St. (Rt. 2) in Williamstown. There are two seatings available, the first at 5:30 and the second at 7:00 pm. Tickets are $25.00 and can be purchased at Wild Oats, IO Digital Artistry & Gallery, Isabella's Restaurant or by calling the BFP at 413-664-7378.

Tonight -- Food of love (chocolate) and Shakespeare -- $15

WILLIAMSTOWN, Mass. -- Organizers of "The Food of Love," issued a last-minute reminder that tonigFoodofloveposters_2ht's the once-a-year opportunity to sample Shakespeare and a sumptuous array of chocolate treats at the Williams Inn, in a benefit for the Fall Festival of Shakespeare in-school program at Mount Greylock Regional High School. Tickets, at $15 a person, are available at the door for the celebration of Shakespeare, love and chocolate. The event starts at 7:30 p.m. and the best chocolates go fast. MGRS students will perform a series of  about 15 short bits from some of the Bard's most-famous plays -- with trays of chocolate treats available before the performances and during an intermission. "Students (in costume) perform Shakespeare's love scenes, soliloquies, and sonnets while the audience enjoys an unlimited chocolate buffet," says Deborah Burns, an editor at Storey Communications and Williamstown resident who has directed the annual benefit since it began four years ago. "The event makes money and also builds awareness of this incredible program," she adds.
