Veteran technology investor Andrew Rappaport says he donated money to a Massachusetts foundation that has developed a Web 2.0 browser for managing Internet video on the user desktop because that's how the young creators of the platform wanted it. The August Capital partner says he and his wife are committed to leaving the planet a better place and that goal is one of the reasons why they they invested in both the Participatory Culture Foundation and, earlier, CivicSpaces Labs. In a 16-minute interview with Media Giraffe Project Editor Bill Densmore, recorded in mid-March, Rappaport describes his social-investment philosophies and also talks about the challenges he sees facing mainstream media.
