Should the mainstream media "certify" citizen journalists?


Former NBC News correspondent David Hazinski, now a journalism professor at the University of Georgia, raises a provocative question via an op/ed piece in the Atlanta Journal-Constitution. He asks, in effect, "Should the mainstream media, or journalism schools, 'certify' citizen journalists?" Hazinski writes that he fears the lack of standards among citizen journalist will erode public trust in news generally.
