Web content software and business process consultant Jim Caralis has opened up a new citizen-government web resource in beta. He says he launched it April 23 entirely on his own, with no thought of making a business of it -- just providing a service to engaged citizens. It's called "OpenMass.org" (http://www.openmass.org ). Caralis posts that OpenMass "brings together official government data with news and blog coverage to give you the real story behind what's happening in the Massachusetts Legislature." He says the goal is to help empower civic engagement by providing easy to acccess information. He's modeled it after OpenCongress.org, a free, open-source, non-profit, and non-partisan web resource. Write Caralis at jimcaralis@openmass.org. More about Caralis' effort: http://runningahospital.blogspot.com/2007/04/window-on-ma-state-government.html
