Daily Hampshire Gazette cited for winning NENA "best newspaper" award in class

The Daily Hampshire Gazette of Northampton, Mass., won the "Newspaper of the Year" in its circulation class, beat three dozen other papers who competed, according to the UMass Amherst journalism program, which partners with the paper for internships. "We are so fortunate to have such a high quality local newspaper and to have Gazette Editor Jim Foudy and Amherst/political reporter Mary Carey working with our students," Karen List, journalism program chair, said in an email to students and others. "The relationship between UMass Journalism and the Gazette has been exceptionally positive and productive over the years, and we look forward to working with our professional partner for years to come."
