Portland TV station said to lose advertising over Hannaford credit-card breach coverage

The Associated Press reports that the Sinclair Broadcasting Group-owned CBS affiliate TV station in Portland, Maine, has lost advertising from Hannaford Bros. Co. Inc., a major supermarket chain. WGME, Channel 13, said the loss was the result of the food chain’s unhappiness over it’s coverage of a breach of credit-card numbers which the chain disclosed last month. WGME is now conducting an online poll of viewers’ reaction, and posting dozens of comments.  Scarborough, Maine-based Hannaford operates 154 supermarkets in New England, New York, Virginia, North Carolina and South Carolina. The data breach affected only some customers' transaction records in Maine, New Hampshire, Vermont and parts of New York, Hannaford said, adding that no names or addresses were breached.
