The "L3C" corporate form -- introduced in Vermont in spring, 2009, enacted in two other states and under consideration in others, is attracting interest as a possible vehicle for hybrid ownership -- a company which is subject to ordinary taxation and can make profits, but which is also capable of attracting charitable foundation investment because of a social agenda.
